Replacing the Lamp in My Panasonic PT-AE4000 Projector

The dreaded REPLACE LAMP message appeared on the projector screen a few days ago. Here is the process I followed to get a new lamp and install it. What projector do I have? Panasonic PT-AE4000 It's a 1080p HD LCD projector. Bought it back in 2011. Been going great ever since. This will be my 3rd lamp replacement. Order a new lamp A new lamp was ordered online, from Projector Bulbs. It cost $233.44 (NZ$) including shipping. Now for the tricky part - installation Remove from ceiling mount. Gently pry up the top cover, from the rear side. Nothing to unscrew yet. Pull out the restraining tab. Unclip the two restraining clips near the front. Squeeze in on each side to release. Now we need to unscrew the 3 screws indicated. Not all the way, just so they are out of the case. Netflix in NZ

UPDATE 2 Feb 2014: see my updated post for a much easier setup.. . A month ago I decided to get Netflix working on my Apple TV 2. This proved to be a bit of a challenge as we live in New Zealand, but I managed to get it working. The main thing to work around is getting Netflix to think you are located in the United States. So to do that I did the following things... 1. Sign up for a VPN service based in the States. I chose Overplay.net. Use your normal NZ credit card for this. 2. Sign up for a United States credit card. Entropay was the one that fit the bill. It's a virtual Visa card, you can use it for anything that takes Visa. And it is a US based credit card, so Netflix will accept it. Its a prepay model, you just load money onto it using your NZ credit card via the Entropay website. They charge a 5% fee for money loaded onto the card, but hey that's the price you pay. 3. Install DD-WRT firmware on a spare Router. Configure the router to auto login to the VPN you ...

EV Incoming

Our electric vehicle is finally about arrive. We ordered it back in early April 2022. It will arrive in country by end of October. We should receive it in the first half of November. Only a 7 month wait. That is pretty normal wait time for EVs these days. It’s slightly better than the current expected wait time of 9 months. Thanks to our very clever sparky (thanks Harry), we now have a Tesla EV Wall Connector (Gen 3) installed at home. Oh, what car did we get? Only the world car of the year. The Hyundai Ioniq 5. We chose the base model, as it was under the $80,000 threshold so we can claim the Clean Car Rebate from the government ($8,625). It has a 58 kWh battery and an estimated range of 384 km.
